AN INTERVIEW WITH MADAME M

I: Madame M, exactly how old are you?

Madame M: Next question, Dahling.

I: Your hair is so black. Do you color it?

Madame M: Next question, Dahling.

I: How did you come up with the ideas to write "Creepy Little Bedtime Stories?"

Madame M: All of my little fiends had been refused apartments and had no place to live. It was every fiend for themselves. I had recently renovated my basement into a lovely rec-room, so I invited them to stay with me and my love at first fright, Wolfman Joe.This book is a result of the stories they had lovingly told me about the trials and tribulations they had experienced in their lives. People can be so cruel and prejudiced to unknown creatures sometimes.

I: What do you expect this book will mean to the creature community?

Madame M: I am hopeful that people will realize that creatures are just human too. They are just a little off kilter from the "norm." If more people would open their hearts to these monsters, the world would be a much more interesting place to live. If you think about it, people have been hell bent on keeping the monsters jobless and homeless for centuries. And then they wonder why some fiends cry bloody murder in the middle of the night. They are sad and lonely. There is no reason that I have found for them to be discriminated against.

I: We don't see you during the day much. Are you allergic to the sun?

Madame M: Dahling, a girl does not live as long as I have, just to go outside and shrivel up like an old prune. I am not allergic to the sun, but I do only come out for special occasions, like interviews and book signings.

I: Will you have other books in the future?

Madame M: I intend to immediately publish more "Creepy Little Bedtime Stories" as well as Kooky, Spooky and Absurd Bedtime Stories. I just have too many weird fiends to not write about them.

I: The illustrations in your book are very unusual. Are they accurate portraits of your friends?

Madame M: Pretty much. Although, my fiends are not partial to sitting still for long periods of time, which can be most disturbing while you are trying to draw.

I: Are you going to have "Creepy Little Bedtime Stories" products on the market?

Madame M: Yes. I am putting my fiends to work on T-shirts, dolls, posters, postcards, watches, etc. They are getting quite egotistical already and want to see their faces everywhere. Wolfman Joe is also completing a "Creepy Little Bedtime Stories" CD, which will have creepy music based on these poems and stories. Some products are already available on our website www.creepylittlestories.com. These products include some exciting limited edition watercolor paintings and autographed books and cards.
